And by the way, it's not just the Supreme Court at stake. There are more than 60 vacant federal judgeships creating massive backlogs in our justice system because of Republicans' outright refusal to confirm President Obama's nominees. The Senate confirms Cabinet nominations, too. What happens if Ted Cruz decides to ignore the next president's nominee for Secretary of Defense? Republicans could cripple all three branches of government by simply refusing to do their jobs. As of this morning, The New York Times gives Republicans a four-in-ten chance of keeping their majority -- that's a four-in-ten chance that the Senate won't do a damn thing for years.
