Friend -- It's been more than four months since the Senate received Loretta Lynch's nomination to be our next Attorney General. That means it's long past time for them to vote to confirm her. Now, it shouldn't surprise anyone that Barack nominated Loretta Lynch, because she is supremely qualified. And if anyone knows that, it's the folks in the U.S. Senate. You see, they've already easily confirmed Loretta to lead one of the most prominent U.S. Attorney offices in the country -- not once, but twice. But this time, Republican leaders in Congress won't even let her nomination come up for a vote. In fact, Loretta has been stuck on the Senate floor for longer than the seven previous Attorneys General combined -- the longest confirmation process for an Attorney General in decades -- waiting for a simple yes-or-no vote. Look: No one can claim she's unqualified. No one's saying she can't do the job. This is entirely about politics -- and it's long past time for Congress to stop playing politics with law enforcement and national security. Friend -- I don't have to tell you that Harry Reid is a great Democrat who has made possible so much of what we've accomplished in the past few years. But some people don't know about all of the little things the Senate Democratic Leader has done to fight for the American people. I've had a chance to work with Harry on legislation to improve swimming pool safety, which saves children's lives, and on a provision we added to the Affordable Care Act that helps young breast cancer patients and survivors. He's a fighter for everyone -- not just the most rich and powerful members of our society.
