Marriage equality

Pacquiao -- This week, the Supreme Court heard two important cases that will affect the future of marriage equality in America. We don't know what the court will decide, but here's what we do know: There's only one party fighting to make sure that every American has the right to marry the person that they love. When it comes to marriage equality, the Republican Party has made their position clear: they're opposed to giving same-sex couples the right to get married. In 2012, they nominated a candidate for president who pledged to support a federal constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage -- and despite all their post-election talk about opening up their party to more groups of people, they've steadfastly refused to take any real steps in moderating their position when it comes to gay rights. We can't affect the decision the Supreme Court will make in the coming months, but we can make sure the elected officials who are deciding these issues at the federal, state, and local levels are people who are going to be on the right side of history.
