TAKE ACTION: Tell Sen. McConnell to do his job
It's been 21 days since President Obama nominated Merrick Garland -- and Senate Republicans still refuse to hold a fair confirmation hearing. So take a minute and give Sen. McConnell a call, and don't forget to report back on what he had to say. | |

Our more perfect union
| Friend -- I grew up hearing about this idea of creating a more perfect union, and I bet you did, too. But in between all the talk about how Washington is broken and dysfunctional and the horse race analysis from the campaign trail, it can be easy to forget what it means. So today, I want to take a minute to remember. To me, creating a more perfect union means doing everything we can possibly do as leaders to make our kids' lives a little better than our own. To decide that, in this country, health care is a right, not a privilege. To secure the right of marriage equality under the law for every American, no matter who they love. To help make sure our grandkids inherit a healthy planet. All of these things, and so, so many more, are why I got into politics in the first place. I believe we can protect the progress we've made over the last seven and a half years, and even more than that, I believe we can go further, and make America even brighter for generations to come. But if we're going to do that, we've got to elect Democrats to the White House, to Congress, and to statehouses all across the country. If you're ready to help make that happen, add your name to say you'll keep working with me, and with our next Democratic president -- to say you'll never stop striving toward that more perfect union: http://my.democrats.org/Elect-Democrats Thanks -- really. Thanks for everything you do. Barack Obama | |

Call Sen. McConnell
![]() |
| Friend -- I don't know about you, but I am beyond over waiting for Senate Republicans to do their jobs and begin the process to consider President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, Chief Judge Merrick Garland. Their latest bit of nonsense is thinking they should get credit for doing their jobs because they are "willing to meet" with the President's nominee -- "as a courtesy." But you know what? Their job isn't to meet with Chief Judge Garland -- they need to give him a confirmation hearing and a vote. So we need you to give Senator McConnell a wakeup call. It'll only take a minute -- here's how it works:
This is very important work. Our government has to function, and making sure the Supreme Court has all nine members is a huge part of that. So really -- thank you so much for your help today. All the best, Amy Amy K. Dacey Chief Executive Officer Democratic National Committee |

What Donald Trump really thinks about women who get abortions:
Getting the word out about how bad Republicans would be for America is the most important part of our work. Become a Factivist today to get the latest information about what they're up to, then forward these emails to your friends and family to keep them in the loop, too. Hey there -- This week the Republican Party's presumptive nominee for President of the United States declared that not only should abortions be banned, but women should also receive "some sort of punishment" for getting them. Outrageous, right? Yeah, we've been scratching our heads at this one for the past few days. Trump tried to walk this back -- suggesting he meant to say that it's actually the doctors who deserve punishment. But this sort of attack on women who want to make their own health care choices is at the heart of the Republican Party's core beliefs. For instance... Ted Cruz is proudly standing on the wrong side of history in his fight against Planned Parenthood and was one of the temper tantrum throwing members of Congress who threatened to shut down the government if the President didn't sign a budget deal defunding it. Oh, and since he doesn't believe in the decisions of our Supreme Court, President Cruz would get right to work on finding a way to overturn Roe v. Wade. John Kasich has proudly deemed himself the most pro-life governor in Ohio's history -- illustrated by slashing funding for clinics where women in his state could safely receive abortions, signing a budget that required women seeking them to get medically unnecessary ultrasounds, and signing legislation that cuts funding for Planned Parenthood in Ohio altogether. And yet he claims he's a moderate? We don't think so. But on the flipside, we've got two amazing Democratic candidates who want to protect a woman's right to choose. And we've got to do everything we can to make one of them our next president. Simply put: The GOP is wrong for women. Forward this email to everyone you know so we can make sure none of them has the opportunity to lead this country back in the wrong direction. And let everyone you're forwarding to know they can become a Factivist and get these updates, too, because the more people we reach about how ridiculous the Republican Party has become, the more Democrats we elect to keep moving us forward: http://my.democrats.org/Become-a-Factivist Thanks. Talk soon. 2016 DNC Factivists |
