A few things I’d like to share with you

Hi, Pat.

What a summer it has already been. I hope you've been able to take a break, however big or small, and spend some time with those you love. This Fourth of July, Bill and I were lucky enough to spend some time at the Teton Raptor Center in Wyoming. Like many of you, I always feel more connected to the world around me when I'm able to spend some time outside in nature -- whether that's during a walk in the woods or an up-close look at some incredible conservation efforts. Thank you to the whole team at TRC for a beautiful tour and for all of the work that you do.

Of course, in other ways, this has been a frustrating time. Republicans have once again pushed through a spending bill that takes from the poor to give to the rich, this time at the cost of millions of Americans' access to health care. In the face of this, I'm particularly grateful to those who have continued to believe in the possibility of progress. For example, David Fajgenbaum, a Clinton Foundation partner, has been doing groundbreaking work in the use of AI to save lives. Women's basketball players, who have seen an astronomical growth over the last few years, have been advocating for fair pay to match. Our partner Run for Something reports that 50,000 new people have signed up to run for office since November. And of course, there are smart, determined candidates ready to take office and make their constituents' lives better -- including my friends Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill, who Onward Together is supporting to become the next governors in Virginia and New Jersey, respectively.

Personally, I've been spending a lot of time lately thinking about how to support kids and families in the new era of the internet. My good friend Jim Steyer and I wrote an op-ed for the Times Union about ways that schools can fight back against predatory tech companies on behalf of students. And I was thrilled to participate in a conversation with Governor Kathy Hochul and students from across the state of New York on the new phone-free initiative in New York schools. On days when the work of making the world a better and more fair place seems impossible, I can't recommend enough sitting down and asking a young person to tell you about their life. The next generation is as thoughtful and smart as ever, and they deserve our commitment, our guidance, and our care.

Enjoy the rest of this summer, Pat, and thank you for continuing to be a part of this wonderful team. I look forward to reaching out again this fall.

Onward!

Hillary
