Maternal Health Day of Action
The White House hosted its first ever Maternal Health Summit earlier this week. Vice President Kamala Harris issued a nationwide call to action to help improve health outcomes for parents and infants in the United States.
The administration announced new commitments to support safe pregnancies and childbirth, and reduce complications and mortality in the year following birth. This means:

Encouraging states to expand postpartum coverage from 60 days to 12 months through their Medicaid programs

Creating a new designation of the quality of maternal health services for our nation's hospitals

Investing $3 billion in maternal health after the Build Back Better Act becomes law
