Republicans have wasted no time trying to undermine, and even at times reverse, the electoral progress we made last year. From passing voter suppression bills in states like Georgia and Florida, to continuing to spread lies about election results -- they're using every tool in their toolbox to take back power.
But we're not taking our foot off the gas at DNC HQ. Here's why: Our congressional majorities -- especially in the Senate -- are slim. And we cannot cede a single inch of it to Mitch McConnell or Kevin McCarthy.
The GOP is ready to obstruct the Biden-Harris agenda in Congress and is already attacking voting rights, trans rights, and more on the ground in states. So there's no more important time than now to start preparing to defend our congressional majority and pick up key state legislatures in 2022.
The DNC is making early investments to ensure states have the data infrastructure, organizing and voter protection staff, and more that they need to combat these Republican schemes and win in 2022. Picking up seats for Democrats nationwide next year won't be easy, but we're getting ready by making investments earlier than ever before to:
- Catalyze new and innovative organizing work by investing in programs that will empower state parties to implement state-tailored strategies and hire staff dedicated to electing Democrats in 2022.
- Take the fight against Republicans directly to them through the Red State Fund. This brand-new, $2 million fund will support investments in Republican-led states, applying direct pressure on the GOP while they're fighting themselves.
- Double down on our efforts to train the next generation of diverse party leaders, so that Democrats have the tools and volunteer capacity to win regardless of their home state.
- Keep providing the best data and tech to Democrats, no matter what office they're running for, through a historic data agreement.
