Take back the House

Democrats
Pacquiao --

Some pretty great news broke yesterday morning -- Tea Party caucus co-founder Michele Bachmann announced that after this term she is retiring from Congress.

If you're like me, you're probably thinking, "don't let the door hit you on the way out."

But here's even better news -- Democrats have a very real chance to take back the House seat that Bachmann is leaving.

Last year, upstart candidate Jim Graves nearly beat Bachmann -- going against a three-term incumbent, he came within a few thousand votes.

Graves is a strong Democrat who will work to support President Obama's agenda, and he's running again in 2014. We are facing an important fundraising deadline at midnight tomorrow that will determine how much we can do for our great candidates -- let's help them win, and flip seats like Michele Bachmann's from extreme red to blue.

Chip in $5 or more before tomorrow's deadline to help elect candidates like Jim Graves and other Democrats.

I'll admit, part of me is going to miss Michele Bachmann's particular brand of...well, you know.

But she blazed a trail so extreme that the Republican Party is now filled with people just like her -- Tea Party Republicans who will do anything to stand in the way of President Obama and his agenda.

And that's why it's crucial that we work hard now to take back as many House seats as we can from Bachmann and her cronies.

Wish Michele Bachmann farewell in the best possible way -- chip in $5 or more before tomorrow's fundraising deadline to help elect a strong Democrat in her place and to take back the House:

Protect a woman's right to choose:

Democrats
Pacquiao --

Republicans in Congress are going after a woman's right to choose -- again.

They are pushing legislation to limit abortions that is a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade.

Help support Democrats fighting to protect a woman's right to make her own health care decisions. Chip in $5 or more today to defend against Republican attacks.

Just last week a federal court of appeals ruled that a similar law in Arizona was unconstitutional.

But the author of this bill, Arizona Congressman Trent Franks, and his Republican colleagues are more determined than ever to turn back the clock and take away a woman's right to choose -- and they believe they have the support in the House to get it done.

Democrats will not let this happen -- we won't let women be forced back into unsafe, illegal abortions.

Send the message to Rep. Franks and his Republican colleagues that a woman's right to choose is not up for debate. Chip in $5 or more to help Democrats fight back:

P.S. -- I wish I could say this issue was settled, and didn't have to ask for your help. But this is simply too important, and we need your support right now. Please chip in $5 or whatever you can today.

Do their damn jobs

Democrats
Pacquiao --

Getting in President Obama's way has been the top priority for Republicans in Congress since day one. But now they've gone too far.

They've been caught red-handed making up so-called 'scandals' out of thin air to stir up false rumors of vast 'cover-ups' happening in the White House.

Did they find a single shred of evidence to back up their outrageous claims? No.

But rather than let the truth stand in their way, Republicans actually doctored emails between administration officials about Benghazi. Then, they released them to the press, trying to pass them off as real in order to create their scandal. Fortunately, they got caught in the act when the White House released all of the actual emails.

Tell President Obama you've got his back right now, no matter what Republicans come up with next.

While Republican leaders were focused on stirring up controversy, Michele Bachmann was talking about impeaching President Obama for absolutely no reason, and Republicans in the House voted to repeal Obamacare -- for the 37th time.

That's how they think they should be spending their time and your money.

Make sure the President knows that you stand behind him and his agenda right now -- and that you won't let Republican games distract you from advocating for real change that will benefit all Americans.

Stand with President Obama today -- and send the message to Republicans that it's time to stop playing political games and get back to work for the American people:

Its time for them to do their damn jobs.

Thanks,

Brad

Obamacare

Pacquiao --

Yesterday, Republicans in the House of Representatives voted to repeal Obamacare for the 37th time -- just to appease their extreme right-wing base.

They have tried to repeal the law, they have tried to overturn the law, and last year, they ran a presidential candidate who promised to "kill it dead."

Americans need to have Obamacare fully implemented -- not repealed.

Join me and tell House Republicans to stop playing politics with Americans' health care and do their job.

Here in Massachusetts, we've been working to make sure all of our citizens have access to quality, affordable health insurance. And we've gotten results -- 98 percent of Bay Staters are insured, by far the highest number in the country. The plan we passed in 2006 -- which is the model for Obamacare -- has only grown more popular with people in our state over time. The more people experience the benefits in their lives, the more they like it.

That's also happening with Obamacare. While Republicans try to repeal it, over three million young adults are able to get coverage through their parents' plans, seniors have saved over $6 billion on their prescriptions, and health care cost increases are finally beginning to slow down.

But Republicans in Congress don't care about any of that. They just want to do whatever they can to block, repeal, or damage Obamacare -- just to block the President's agenda.

That's not what the American people need or want. Join me today and tell House Republicans to work with, not against, President Obama and for the American people:

Thanks,

Deval

Michelle Obama

Pacquiao --

As a mom who raised her kids while serving in office, I know how hard it can be to juggle all the demands of work with getting the kids ready for school and making it home in time for family dinner.

That's why I'm so thankful for the strong female role models in my life who showed me that it was possible to have a demanding career and a family.

For women today, I can't think of a better example than First Lady Michelle Obama who shows that it is possible to make a real difference in the lives of millions of Americans -- while still remaining 100-percent committed to your family.

Thousands of us have added our names to this Mother's Day card for the First Lady and there's still time to add yours -- sign the card now.

The First Lady does incredible work with veterans and their families -- and she's also leading the charge against childhood obesity with the Let's Move! campaign. But she also makes time to sit down with her family for dinner every night, go to Sasha and Malia's recitals and basketball games, and be there for her husband.

She's a true inspiration to millions of women across this nation -- and I'd love it if you'd join me in telling her that.

Add your name to the First Lady's Mother's Day card, and we'll make sure she gets all of our messages of support:

http://my.democrats.org/Mothers-Day

All the best,

Claire

Senator Claire McCaskill
Missouri

P.S. -- Don't forget to wish your own mom a happy Mother's Day today!

Sign Michelle Obama's Mother's Day card

Pacquiao --

When I first came to Washington in 2005, there weren't a lot of people who understood why I carried around crayons in my purse.

You see, there weren't all that many moms with young kids working in Congress -- not many people who understood what it was like balancing taking care of my constituents with taking care of my three kids, Jake, Rebecca, and Shelby.

So I was excited when Michelle Obama became the first mother in years to have young children in the White House. In the time since, I've been incredibly inspired by how she's managed to balance her duties as First Lady with what she says is her most important job -- being Sasha and Malia's mom.

This Mother's Day, I want to let the First Lady know how much she's admired and appreciated.

Join me, and sign your name to my card wishing the First Lady a happy Mother's Day.

Over the past few years, the First Lady has done so much to help kids, veterans, and military families -- and she's raising two strong and smart daughters while doing it.

We're lucky to have Michelle Obama as our First Lady, and Sasha and Malia are lucky to have her as a mom.

Wish her a happy Mother's Day today:

http://my.democrats.org/Mothers-Day

Thanks,

Debbie
