Pacquiao -- Todd Akin -- the man who offended just about everyone when he made the dead wrong claim that there is a medical difference between "legitimate rape" and other instances of rape -- was just officially locked in as the GOP opponent for Claire McCaskill's Missouri Senate seat. Today, here's what he had to say about the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Missouri, after he observed that she seemed "aggressive" in Friday's debate: "[In her 2006 campaign, McCaskill] had a confidence and was very much more sort of ladylike." If you've heard enough, chip in $5 to stop him. The critical September fundraising deadline is when Democrats will decide if we have the resources to really take on candidates like this one -- so it's up to you, right now. Mr. Akin thinks Missouri's Senator, who serves on the Senate Committee on Armed Services, Committee on Commerce, Committee on Science and Transportation, Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and Special Committee on Aging, is not "ladylike" because she wasn't sweet to him in their debate. "She came out swinging," Akin said, "and I think that's because she was threatened." You're in a position to stop this man from holding office in our nation's Senate and to stop him from authoring our laws. You're in a position to stand with Senator McCaskill as she enters the fight of her life. The September FEC fundraising deadline is in just a few days, and that's when we're going to have to make calls about how hard Democrats can fight against extreme GOP candidates like this. Donate $5 or more to help Democrats shut this guy down and take on the cynical, win-at-any-cost backers funding him: https://my.democrats.org/Defeat-Republicans Todd Akin's crossed the line again and again, and we're the ones who are going to tell him that he can't take his ignorance, his fanaticism, and anything else he has to say about what's ladylike and what's not to our Senate floor.
