pacquiao -- If Republicans win back Congress this fall, their agenda is simple: They're vowing to repeal every major legislative milestone we've achieved. Moments after the Senate voted to pass Wall Street reform, Rep. John Boehner -- the House Republican leader -- was already telling reporters that he thought it "ought to be repealed." And just after the president signed the bill into law, Rep. Mike Pence -- another member of the leadership -- did the same. We've worked hard for the achievements this administration has won - and we're going to have to fight just as hard to protect them. Between now and Election Day, we must do two things: spread the facts about how these reforms are improving lives, and build the campaigns it will take to beat the Republicans who are pledging to undo everything we've worked so hard to achieve. Can you donate $5 or more to help protect the progress we've made? It's all a little too familiar. No sooner had health insurance reform passed than Republicans began crying for it to be rolled back. And if Republicans gain a majority in Congress this fall, they will try -- as New Gingrich put it -- to "repeal virtually everything" passed by President Obama and Democrats in Congress. That's a step backward our country simply can't afford to take. What's at stake are the strongest consumer financial protections ever enacted, protections that safeguard Americans from unfair fees and rate hikes, and a new watchdog agency whose sole job is to look out for the people -- not big banks. What's at stake is expanded health coverage for 32 million Americans, protection for those with pre-existing conditions, and the largest middle-class tax cut for health care in the history of our country. Republicans are crying repeal again -- but we'll counter their threats with action. As part of our plan to win this fight, we're building a communications team to answer every Republican attack, explicitly pushing back on their campaigns' misstatements. We're putting organizers on the ground in every state, and hitting the GOP back with our own ads that clearly outline the benefits of reform in the day-to-day lives of Americans. We need your help to defend reform. Please donate $5 or more today: http://my.democrats.org/DefendReform Thanks, Jen Jen O'Malley Dillon Executive Director Democratic National Committee | ||||
