Tea Party president

Democrats
Pacquiao --

In case you missed last night's GOP debate, here's a quick recap:

Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney sat side by side. If one vowed to repeal the Affordable Care Act, the other called Arizona's immigration law a model for the country. If one brought up the "dangers of contraception," the other said he'd support Cut, Cap, and Balance and end Medicare as we know it. They're in a dead heat in the polls -- so now they're in a footrace to decide who's most extreme.

No matter who the GOP picks, this is what we're up against.

If we wait until November to protect the things we've fought for, it's too late. We're laying the groundwork now.

Pitch in $5 or whatever you can to help President Obama and Democrats across the country win in 2012.

With the GOP primary season dragging on, the Tea Party in charge, and no clear leading candidate, you can expect things to only get more extreme.

The last congressional races taught us what can happen if we don't fight back early enough and hard enough. We've seen what it's like to work with the Tea Party in the House.

Imagine a Tea Party president.

It could happen this year without your leadership.

We have less than nine months to keep that from happening. You can help by making a donation today:

"We just need a president to sign this stuff"

Democrats
Pacquiao --

Given that he's been on both sides of just about every major issue, some folks in both parties have wondered whether a President Romney would be as "severely conservative" as he says.

Well, check this out: At last week's Conservative Political Action Conference, GOP ringleader Grover Norquist talked about who he wants in the White House:

"All we have to do is replace Obama. ... We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We don't need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Paul Ryan budget. ... We just need a president to sign this stuff."

They're not looking for a leader -- they're looking for someone to rubber stamp the Tea Party agenda coming out of Congress.

And Romney's their man.

We don't just have the presidency at stake. We have the Senate to keep, and the House to gain. Now, I need to know you're with us on all three:

Will you pitch in $5 or more to support Democrats?

Remember: Norquist is the guy who said he wants to "shrink government to the size where we can drown it in a bathtub." And his speech shows us what we can look forward to if he and his allies are successful: A president who will stand for slashing Medicare, gutting Social Security, and raising taxes on the middle class so they can give the wealthy a break.

Later in his speech, Norquist said all they must do is "pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become president of the United States."

That's what we're up against.

From now until November, we're going to be supporting the President's efforts. And we'll be working in states and congressional districts around the country to make sure we keep people willing to pass the Tea Party agenda out of Congress, and people willing to sign it out of the White House.

Help support that work. Chip in $5 or more today:

Fwd: The truth

Pacquiao --

Big announcement: the folks over at the Obama campaign launched the Truth Team today -- the grassroots effort to fight back against the GOP's attacks on President Obama's record.

This will be your one-stop shop to help make sure everyone you know gets the facts the next time Mitt Romney or any of the other candidates launch a false attack on the President, or when you hear someone ask what he's accomplished in office.

I wanted to be sure you saw this. The GOP candidates are making it their number one priority to distort our President's record, and they aren't acting alone. They have millions of dollars in special-interest ad spending at their disposal.

We're fighting back. With your help, we can hold the other guys accountable with the truth.

If you're ready to fight the GOP lies, join the team today:

http://my.democrats.org/Join-the-Team

Thanks,

Patrick

Patrick --

If we've learned anything from the Republican primaries, it's that this is no ordinary election.

The GOP candidates are spending a huge amount of time attacking President Obama -- no surprise. But instead of basing their attacks on our differences of opinion, they've chosen to run on claims about his record that just aren't true.

Mitt Romney says that, despite 23 consecutive months of job growth under the President's watch, he's made the recession "worse." Rick Santorum says that the Affordable Care Act, which was based in part on Republican proposals and provides millions of Americans with access to affordable, private health insurance, is a government takeover of health care. They're not acting alone: With the newfound power of outside groups, these lies can be instantly amplified with millions of dollars in special-interest ad spending.

If the other guys are going to run a campaign based on misrepresenting the President's record -- and their own -- we have two options: sit back and let these lies go unchallenged, or fight back with the truth.

We're fighting back. Today we're introducing a new resource for grassroots supporters who want to make sure that when voters go to the polls in November, they know the truth -- and you should be a part of it.

Will you sign up to be a member of the Truth Team?

The website has three sections to reflect the team's goals: KeepingHisWord, where we'll communicate about President Obama's record and promises kept; AttackWatch, to fight back against false attacks on the President; and KeepingGOPHonest, where we'll debunk the Republicans' false claims about their own records.

In short, it's the grassroots communications team of the Obama 2012 campaign. We'll provide resources for you to learn everything you need to know and tools to help you share it with undecided voters in your life.

Communicating about the President's record -- and that of our opponents -- is what I do full-time. But people don't just want to hear from campaign statements or ads -- they want to hear from the family and friends they trust.

The President needs folks on board to roll up their sleeves, stand with him, and get the truth out all over the country.

So the next time you hear Mitt Romney accusing the President of "crony capitalism" or someone asking, "What has President Obama really accomplished?" you'll know what to do.

If you're ready to fight lies with the truth, sign up now:

Did you see the President's email?

Pacquiao --

Five years ago today, Barack Obama launched his campaign on the statehouse steps in Springfield, Illinois.

Think about how far we've come since that day and what we, as Democrats, have accomplished together. We're all a part of this.

Check out a video that looks back on the past five years, and reminds us of what's at stake this November:

Patrick --

Five years ago today, a few thousand of us gathered in Springfield, Illinois, to launch an improbable campaign for president.

The task was to build a grassroots movement capable of making the kind of change we believe in.

You've got to see this video about that journey -- it will make you smile:

http://my.democrats.org/Springfield

From the very start this has been an experiment in our political process, testing whether ordinary people really can still come together to change this country.

We proved that it's possible. But we've also learned that entrenched interests adapt and claw back even harder, which means this election will be even more of a challenge.

I can't wait to see what you can do.

Barack

Seen the new jobs chart?

Pacquiao --

On Friday, it was announced that we've hit our 23rd consecutive month of job growth. We've seen 3.7 million private-sector jobs created during that time.

Still, you're probably familiar with one of the GOP's favorite go-to lies: bashing the President's jobs record.

Mitt Romney's called him a job destroyer, claiming that the President "has not created any new jobs." Newt Gingrich's taken it a step further, saying, "the President has now spent three years proving that he kills jobs in energy, he kills jobs in manufacturing, he kills jobs in virtually every part of American life."

We've had about enough of that. And we're pushing back.

The folks over at the Obama campaign put together a jobs chart, which lays out the past four years of monthly jobs numbers, from under President Bush in December 2007 up until this past month.

Check it out, then pass it on:

On Friday, the new monthly jobs numbers came out. We've officially had 23 consecutive months of private-sector job growth, and seen 3.7 million private-sector jobs created under this President.

In response to the news, Mitt Romney cynically claimed President Obama has "prevented a true economic recovery." He's even falsely said President Obama "has not created any new jobs," and told ABC News earlier this year that the President has "lost 2 million jobs."

The Republican candidates are banking on people not knowing the truth about the President's record.

We need to get the facts out there -- so we put together this chart where you can Facebook it, tweet it, or send it on a postcard for free.

Click here to share it to your friends and family who need to see it -- this literally takes two minutes.

Help spread the word about the President's jobs record.

Tens of thousands of supporters have already shared this jobs chart online. Now, we want to make sure it's out there in the offline world, too -- in people's hands, on their refrigerators, or on a message board in a public library. You can share it either way.

We still have a long way to go, and this month's numbers are just a snapshot in time. But stats like this shouldn't be missed.

Make sure people know the truth about the President's record on jobs -- spread the word to your friends today:

Fwd: One-term president?

Pacquiao --

We think every Democrat and Obama supporter should see what Mitt Romney said last night.

Check out the email from Obama campaign manager Jim Messina, then chip in to make sure President Obama's more than a one-term president:

http://my.democrats.org/Two-Term-Fund

Thanks,

Patrick

From: Jim Messina, BarackObama.com
Subject: One-term president?

Patrick --

Here's what Mitt Romney said after he won the Florida Republican primary last night:

"While we celebrate this victory, we must not forget what this election is really about ..."

... What do you think he said? Not getting the economy moving. Not keeping America safe. Not improving people's lives.

"While we celebrate this victory, we must not forget what this election is really about: defeating Barack Obama."

Then he launched a "One-Term Fund" drive to get his backers to contribute $1 million to make Barack Obama a one-term president.

That's not how it's going to be. So I just had the team create a "Two-Term Fund" page on BarackObama.com that's going to track our progress to a $2 million goal. Most importantly, we're going to show the number of people giving to make it happen.

Please donate $3 or more to our Two-Term Fund now.

It may not take the Romney camp very long to get to a million -- they announced today that just 9 percent of their money comes from donors giving less than $200.

It's also clear that there's lots of money to be raised from far-right Tea Party types appealing to a very personal dislike of Barack Obama. When Romney tells a reporter that we need a president "who believes in American principles" or that President Obama will be just a "footnote in history," that's who he's talking to.

Last night Romney summed it up in one line -- for them, it's all about beating one man and sending his family packing from the White House.

Everything else the Republicans say or do is just means to that end.

Our campaign is different. It's about bringing people together to protect the progress we've made and make a lot more in a second term. And 98 percent of the donations people like you make to this campaign are $250 or less.

You can make a second term a lot more likely right now by giving to our two-term fund -- you'll even get to see exactly how many others are joining you:

http://my.democrats.org/Two-Term-Fund

Thanks -- we'll keep you posted.
