Republicans want to cheat.
As you know, this is not a census year, but it is the year of the so-called "Big, Beautiful Bill" and the unpopularity of it.
They know that taking health care from working families and sick people is not a winning argument. They know that raising costs for middle-class families to pay for billionaire tax cuts is not a winning argument. So Republicans are cheating to maintain power.
This week, Missouri Republicans are attempting to pass maps that will disenfranchise Black voters and unseat Democrat Rep. Emanuel Cleaver — a lifelong public servant representing Kansas City.
I spoke with the brave Democratic legislators from Missouri who are putting so much on the line to bring attention to this injustice.
I said to them what I will say to you now: You are not alone.
As a part of this team, you are showing that we will not give up the fight. We are not willing to stand by as Republicans cheat to stay in power.
The upcoming fight will not be easy. Do not let your spirit be defeated.
That is what we can hold onto in these moments: Knowing what we stand for — and what to fight for.
